She'd always looked so young for her age. Naturally, paleness became her, long before it was possibly in fashion, Serena supposed. Honestly, it made her hostile when people assumed she was only 14 and pregnant. Well, that was then. This was now. A decade or so and then some. She very well remembered telling everyone who assumed it that she was almost 20 when it happened.

Of course, she hadn't aged a bit since. Yes, it had been turbulent times, indeed. Fall out of one relationship into another. Sort of. She supposed. Well, it was a lifestyle change. Demetri wasn't exactly how she had anticipated. He was so soft spoken. In the beginning, and then he couldn't find work, being a gypsy and all and then Louis thought he could help. But that was before she knew he was a vampire and now it was all so nothing.  He'd found what he was searching for in New Orleans and honestly, the weather was much better here on her skin, and her family was here, as well.

It wasn't that she was always here. She stayed away because she knew about the werewolves. She knew how they existed. Serena was careful in these part, but it was always nice coming home. Just to get a glimpse of her daughter. And it pained her so to see how much she'd missed out. How old Tess had become. Was it possible it was time to change that before it was too late?
