"So where do you stay at Jacob's?" Embry found himself asking. He loved the sweet scent of her hair and he so wanted to touch her, but he was doing his best to give her space before he out did himself. Yes, he wanted her. All to himself.
"I have my own room." She told him.
"Can I see you, sometime? You know, where its just the two of us. I don't want to have Jacob around." He finally confessed.
Tess gave him an open grin.
"You're just too cute, you know that." She chuckled.
"I don't want to be cute!" He felt as if he'd barked at her then, but he didn't mean too. "I just-I just want you to like me."
"I do." She nodded.
"Only me. I want to be the only one you want." Embry insisted. He held her hand then as if he alone could keep her from harm.
"I know, but-"
"I don't want to hear this. You know, Jacob's in love. He can only love one, and she's a vampire." Embry told her.
"Really?" Tess looked surprised.
"You didn't know?" Embry watched her. She looked a bit ill. She had to sit down in the treehouse.
"Its all right." He sat with her, putting his arm around her. "I'll always be here for you. There will never be another." He assured her.
He saw Tess try to smile. But he knew she was still in shock at the thought that Jacob was in love with someone else.
