Jacob shook his head. What nonsense was this? Embry acting like a fool around Tess. He didn't need this. This was serious business, protecting Tess. There was no time for a distraction. But he was being silly and talkative and just down right rude.
Jacob gave him an evil glare as if to say hands off. But it didn't phase Embry a bit. He was all smiles, talking about anything and everything that might slightly interested Tess. And she was amused.
That laughter of theirs was sickening. Who did they think they were?
"What do you think you are doing? Dude!" Jacob got Embry outside on the porch so they could be alone after dinner. Jacob pressed his index finger straight into Embry's chest.
"What?" Embry just smiled. "I can't help it. I like her. And she likes me."
"She does not." Jacob winced. "You don't even know her."
"I could." Embry croaked, but then came back with an effort. "I will. I will get to know her. And I won't be hiding her at my house, either, you know. She's amazing and she should be..." He stammered a bit hugging himself, as if he knew if Jacob wanted..could whip his ass. "Someone you want everyone to know, you're with her. You know. Well, I would, anyway, I would show her off. Unlike you."
"Embry, you have no idea what you're talking about." Jacob told him. "No idea what I'm dealing with right now. Just leave her alone. Do you hear me?"
"Yeah, I hear you, but some things.. you can't help. You can't." Embry looked him in the eye.
Jacob just shook his head. He just might have to whip Embry's butt, yet.
